FINDING OUR WAY: RESETTING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM IN HIGH-SPEED CHAOTIC TIMES

Most of us know about the Power of Now, Being Here Now,  meditation-----the pursuit of presence and the many ways of "being" that have become so much a part of our culture. Yet, even as we cultivate presence, most of  us are moving very fast, to keep pace with the relentless demands of modern life.

Today we often hear about “Changing our frequency”.... the call to perceive act and live differently. This shift invites us to examine the distorted perceptions from our early years, the labels we unconsciously gave ourselves, and the suffering that arises from seeing the world through those old lenses. As awareness grows, we begin to notice  ourselves creating experiences, and with that, the possibility of choosing something new.

For nearly 50 years, people referred to me as a "Healer". A  term to which I really don't embrace. I believe each of us holds that role for ourselves. Our Inherent, Innate, Nature....our Health, our Wisdom are what bring the real change.  My orientation is to empower, support and educate people to engage in their own healing. So I call this an “Empowerment Model.”

In the 1990's, I began to recognize the profound importance of helping people pause. At the time, I was in my third craniosacral training and the second style of visceral training, encountering the concept of motility.

Motility, (by one definition) is the inherent movement of life ... presenting in utero as cells divide and form the body.  Each tissue, bone, and organ has its own motility: the femur with its long dense rhythm, the colon with it's U-shaped tube wave.  Some movements are larger. Others are subtle, extremely refined. When these natural motilities are disturbed or diminished, imbalance and dysfunction often follow. Things are not working well.

What I discovered is that true change stabilizes when shifts occur on every level---- mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual each one supporting the other into a new homeostasis, a new way of being, perceiving, expressing. Yes, it is a tall order, but a real possibility. By helping someone drop into their own motility, their innate wisdom begins to reassert itself-- supporting transformation at the most fundamental level.

How this unfolds? I sit quietly listen as indicated. Often I begin with the sacrum, feet spine and cranium, tuning into motility.  From there I listen for how the areas communicate, how they come into rhythm and coherence. Then I follow what the body shows me, in dialogue with the person's stated intention.

Each session has its own pace and needs, shaped by life force, injuries and overall health. Sometimes the work concludes with this listening; other times it deepens into further layers.

At the heart of it all is a simple foundation: Listening and Empowerment.  When we are deeply listened to--when we feel truly heard---we remember ourselves. In that remembering, we return to our Innate Health, Wisdom, Awareness and Presence. Supporting that return is both the goal and the gift of the work.
